DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police want help tracking down the other half of a team of armed robbers after arresting two suspects. Investigators said all four worked together to rob a man at gunpoint on Dallas's Katy Trail.
The popular trail has been plagued in the past by violent robberies. People in the area had hoped those had slowed down, but now many have renewed fears about their safety.
Katy Trail is a favorite spot for joggers, cyclists, and dog walkers, but with temperatures getting cooler and the sun going down earlier, smaller crowds could make for easier targets.
"If there's going to be less people, it'll be easier to grab their stuff, go, and wait for it to get quiet again, and get the next person who's alone," said Natalie Pilzer who frequents the trail.
That's why Pilzer and her friends try to stick together whenever they hit the trail.
"I know some people are training for marathons or doing whatever, and they run every day, but if at all possible I would definitely have a running buddy," Pilzer's friend Katy Whelan said as the two walked the trail with a third friend.
That caution comes in part from a series of robberies over the past year along the trail, but Saturday's latest case was particularly disturbing.
Police arrested 22-year-old Daray Robinson and 18-year-old Marshan Williams after investigators said the pair teamed up with two more suspects to rob a victim at gunpoint.
Police are still looking for the other two suspects, a man and a woman. The search has many like Pilzer making an extra effort to stay alert on the trail.
"That's scary that there was a group of them, so you're obviously very outnumbered, especially if you're out running by yourself," Pilzer said.
A lot of the people found walking the trail said they often see a significant police presence, and they've also noted improvements in lighting over the past year, so they said it's important for everyone to do their part and be aware of your surroundings, especially after dark.
