ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) — A pickup truck driver is not expected to face charges after hitting and killing a pedestrian this holiday weekend, police say.

Arlington police responded to the crash around midnight on Saturday. Investigators say the pedestrian started walking down U.S. Highway 287 after his car broke down. The pickup truck, driving southbound in the outside lane, hit the pedestrian who was walking in the main lanes near Turner Warnell Road.

The pickup truck driver stopped and called 911, and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. The pickup truck driver is not expected to face charges, according to the department.

Investigators said they do not know why the pedestrian would have been walking in the lanes. The victim's identity has not yet been released.
