Another Weekend Weather Change

Very peaceful again today when it comes to the weather.  It was cold this morning, with many parts of North Texas starting in the 20s, but we made it back into the 50s during the afternoon, light sunshine and light wind.

We'll be cold again tonight, but fewer 20s and more 30s.

Tomorrow will be tranquil yet again.  High in the upper 50s.

Temperatures in the northwest Canada have now dropped well below zero again.  This is a sign that arctic air is present and will spill southward across the United States over the weekend.

A strong cold front will arrive Sunday morning, bringing clouds, wind and much colder temperatures.  We're not expecting any precipitation with this system, but it will be more enjoyable Saturday compared to Sunday.

The weekly drought update came out today and shows that a good portion of North Texas has been removed from official drought conditions.  The beige color below indicates moderate drought conditions still present in parts of the Metroplex & the western areas of North Texas.  The worst drought is still found close to Wichita Falls.  We need rain to fall in this area before our lakes and reservoirs locally begin to fill back up.

In fact, our lake levels continue to run several feet below normal pool stage, despite the recent rainfall.

So we could still obviously use rain, but there is none in the forecast for at least the next seven days.  If you have outdoor plans for New Years Eve, the weather looks...you got it...quiet.
