"Affluenza" Teen Ethan Couch Moved To Adult Jail

Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson held a news conference Friday afternoon to address Ethan Couch's move to adult jail. He said the 18-year-old's life in the facility will be routine, regimented and hopefully safe amid concern another inmate may target him. Couch is currently serving his time in a single cell. Described as quiet, soft-spoken and compliant, Anderson said Couch didn't voice any concerns or complaints.
Couch is still under the jurisdiction of the juvenile court. The only change in his "status" is his housing status, according to Anderson.
Couch's next court dates are Feb. 12 and Feb. 19 when the judge will consider moving his case to adult court.
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - CBS11 News has learned from law enforcement that a judge signed an order today to move "affluenza" teen Ethan Couch to an adult facility.
Couch, 18, was moved from the Lynn W. Ross Juvenile Detention Center, to the Lon Evans Corrections Center in downtown Fort Worth.
The teenager arrived back in North Texas on January 28. He was in custody in Mexico and was fighting extradition.
Ethan sent time in Mexico since he and his mother fled to the country after a video was posted to Twitter, allegedly showing the teen at a party with several people playing beer pong. The six-second video shows several young people in a room, with red cups and beer cans stacked on a table. It ends when a young man dives onto the table, and it collapses. A person, reported to be Couch, can be seen clapping during the dive.
