AAA Texas: Gas Prices Lower Than This Time Last Year
IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - Despite the recent rise in gas prices, Texans are spending less to fill up their cars compared to last year.
AAA of Texas found the statewide average cost for a gallon of gas is $3.23, 30 cents less than what drivers paid last summer.
In Dallas and Fort Worth, the average pump price is $3.30 per gallon-- down from $3.55 last July.
The national average is also lower than last year. Currently, U.S. drivers pay an average of $3.38 per gallon. Last July's average was $3.64.
"We encourage drivers, especially those still planning summer trips, to think about fuel efficiency," said AAA Texas Representative Doug Shupe in a press release. "Motorists should maintain their vehicles according to manufacturer's recommendations, inspect tire inflation and tread wear, and pack smart before you hit the road."
