A Wet Weekend Ahead...What Happens Next Week?

A weak cold front has been seeping into North Texas all day today, but the cooler air is lagging behind quite a bit.  It will be a chilly overnight, however as temperatures fall into the 40s.

We'll see a few more clouds during the day on Friday.  That, combined with a northeast wind, will hold high temperatures down into the upper 60s to near 70.

We're still expecting rain over the weekend.  The storm system that will bring us that opportunity is still over the western U.S., but will quickly move into Texas by Saturday.

The rain will start up to our northwest Saturday morning and the progress to the east during the day Saturday.  The highest rain chance will be Saturday night.  We could see a few embedded thunderstorms, but this is not a severe weather set-up.  Rainfall amounts will generally be less than 3/4".  Rain should taper off during Sunday morning.

We've been talking about a big weather change next week, with the arrival of a strong cold front.  Our computer guidance came out today all over the place.  One model really slows the system down and doesn't bring the cold air into North Texas until Friday of next week.  This scenario would not give us a high rain chance either.

Our other most reliable model is faster with the storm and brings the cold air in on Wednesday, along with a better chance for rain and even strong thunderstorms.

We will have to keep an eye on which model is more consistent the closer we get to next week.  At any rate, it does appear that around Halloween, we will start seeing cooler air and a chance of rain arrive in North Texas.  Stay tuned!
