A Cloudy And Cool Weekend
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Tired of the cloud cover? December and January are our cloudiest months. On average for those two months, the sun is seen for about 52% of the available daylight hours. But this week we have seen very little sunshine and that trend will continue for the weekend and probably most of next week.
An upper level low is diving out of the four corners area and heading for South Texas. This will continue to drive cloud cover from the south into North Texas. There have been a few sprinkles and some drizzle this evening from Waco over to Palestine.
Tonight some light drizzle and fog will persist for those areas in the southern part of North Texas.
Saturday will be cloudy and cool with high temperatures in the upper 40s to near 50. It will be similar to today but there will be some light rain south of I-20 and especially south of Waco.
Saturday night into Sunday the upper level low will be in South Texas and a weak disturbance will be passing over North Texas. This will try to bring some rain closer to the Metroplex on Sunday morning. There will likely be a well-defined cut off line from where it is raining and where it is not. That looks like it may set up right over the Metroplex.
So for those areas that are north and west of a Fort Worth to Plano to Greenville line there may be little in the way of rain for you this weekend. But areas south of that line it could rain most of Sunday. Those areas in the southeast section of North Texas like Palestine, Athens, Fairfield, Corsicana, Hillsboro, Tyler it will be a very wet weekend with rather persistent rain. Rainfall is those areas could be over an 1".
There will also be some fog tomorrow morning south of DFW. And then patchy fog is expected on Sunday. Temperatures will stay in the 40s on Sunday.
NEXT WEEK
A couple of cold fronts will bring us glancing blows of cold air next week. First one gets here Monday night with no rain. The second one gets here Wednesday night with just a 20% chance of rain. Both fronts will prevent us from getting terribly warm next week. Highs will generally be in the 50s and 40s next week.
