A Big Rain In Progress
AN URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY is in effect until 12:30 PM for the Metro area, FLOOD WARNINGS are in effect for Navarro, Hill and Limestone Counties. Heavy rain is still falling in the warned areas. We have reports from Coriscana in Navarro County of 6" of rain:

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until Saturday morning for our southern tier. Watch out for flooded roadways:

Its been a long time since we've had this kind of rain. We went 103 days since a 1"plus rain fell at the DFW airport. Right now this is the 2nd biggest rain event of the year:
Up until last night September was very hot (on pace for the hottest ever in fact) and very dry (the 8th driest). All that has changed since then. We are now in a surplus for this point in the month. For the year we are still have a deficit of over 5":
It started raining the DFW airport around 8:00pm last night. The temperature dropped from 85° to 73° across the hour. The temperature hasn't budged since, it's still 73° at the airport as of 9 am. Yesterday was the first day in the 80's since mid-August. Today it'll barely get to 80°.
We are not expecting rain again until next Thursday. This weekend we finally get a break from the summer heat. Fall officially starts at 3:44pm on Sunday:
