MESQUITE, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A 6-year-old has died after he was found unresponsive at a pool in Mesquite Wednesday evening, police said.

Police said they responded to the 600 block of East Kearney Street just before 8 p.m.

According to police, an officer and paramedics performed live-saving efforts before rushing the child to the hospital. The 6-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Further details were not immediately released as police investigate the child's death.
