4th of July Forecast for DFW plus Rain and Cooler WX on the Way

4th of JULY EVENING FORECAST…

Dry and hot for you 4th of July festivities.  Here is the forecast for this evening…

BRUTAL HEAT IN THE MIDWEST…

Although it is hot here.  Temperatures are hotter across much of the heart of the country.  Here are a look at temperatures as of 3pm CDT.

There are also Heat Advisories and Heat Warnings in effect for a number of states.

RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE…

This heat centered so far north is thanks to a strong Ridge of High Pressure that is located to our north.

RIDGE MOVES WEST…

This ridge of high pressure will stay strong thru about Saturday and temperatures will remain in the upper 90s to 100 degrees the next few days.  But by early next week, the ridge will be moving into the Rockies.  This will allow for disturbances to move into Texas.  This will bring rain chances starting on Sunday and continuing into Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  But the real benefit will be more cloud cover and cooler temperatures with highs only in the low 90s.

Here is the GFS forecast model showing the evolution of the upper level ridge moving back to the west and rain chances moving into Texas.  The green shading is where the model if forecasting rainfall.
