2 Children Fatally Hit In Dallas, In 2 Separate Incidents

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Two Dallas families are dealing with tragedy after two children were hit by cars in different neighborhoods at around 8pm Monday.

In Oak Cliff, the driver of a minivan was backing out of her driveway when she accidentally struck a two-year-old female child.

The child was taken to Methodist Central Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver and the child live in the same household, but are not blood relatives.

There are no charges pending at this time and alcohol was not a factor.

Around the same time in another part of Dallas, a mother and her 9-year-old daughter were on Pineland crossing southbound over Fair Oaks in the crosswalk.

While walking they were struck by a motorist who was traveling northbound and turning west onto Fair Oaks. The child was killed instantly.

The mother was transported to an area hospital where she is in stable condition. The driver of the Ford Expedition remained at the scene.

It is unknown if any charges are pending at this time. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this accident as well.
