Two big weather headlines today:
Hottest Day So Far This Year Coming:
- Highest temperature so far is 97 degrees.
- 99 degrees today with Heat Indices 100-105 degrees.
- Been 256 days since we last saw 100 – it was 101 on September 29.
As you can see below, our in-house computer model is depicting highs near 99-100 degrees and even hotter to the west.
Severe Storm Threat Late Afternoon & Evening:
- Storms will fire west along dry line and move toward Metroplex.
- Storms will also trigger along Oklahoma cold front and impact northeastern areas.
- Window for dry line storms: 4pm-9pm.
- Window for cold front storms: 10pm-2am.
- Large hail, damaging winds & lightning are the top three concerns
Storm threat is expected to continue tomorrow as the cold front becomes stationary somewhere across North Texas. The general thinking is across the Metroplex as depicted below with the best storms chances for the southern half of North Texas. A lingering storm chance is in place Wednesday morning before the boundary fizzles out and we make way for dry, hot conditions through the weekend.
