100's Arrive But Not To Last

This is the hottest weekend we've had so far this year. We could get our first 100° day of the year today (yesterday it hit 99°). Then another one tomorrow:

But big changes are on the way thanks to a large swirl of cold air far to the north. This low pressure system over Canada will push a cold front all the way into Texas. It stalls out just to our south and brings both cooler air and much-needed rain chances:

On Thursday we could have a really BIG rain. It would be welcomed, it's been a year devoid of rain. We have about half as much as we should have:

But we are also talking about going from triple-digit highs to the 80's for highs. That doesn't happen often. In fact we've had more NIGHTS in the 80's than daytime highs:

But this is where it just get weird. This same week last year we were telling the same story. From 100's to rain and 80's. Except on July 16th, 2103 the daytime high was only 74°, the coldest July day in about 70 years:

We also got 1.71" of rain at DFW Airport over a four-day period as that cold air came in. We don't have 70° weather in the forecast this week but we could up with a couple of inches of rain:
