Meagan Harris is an award-winning news executive and journalist who serves as vice president and news director of CBS Texas, overseeing news operations for KTVT-TV (CBS 11), KTXA-TV (TXA 21), the CBS Texas streaming channel and CBSTexas.com.
Harris has spent much of her more than 20-year journalism career in Texas, including more than a decade in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. She joined CBS Texas in June 2023 after serving as news director of NBCLX, a multiplatform national news network targeting millennials. During her four years with NBCLX, Harris helped build the network from concept to launch, overseeing the production of live newscasts originating from KXAS-TV, the NBC-owned station in Fort Worth.
Before joining NBCLX, Harris served as news director at WTLV-TV and WJXX-TV in Jacksonville, Florida, beginning in 2015. She previously spent eight years at WFAA-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth, where she started as a producer of the station's 10 p.m. newscast before becoming an executive producer.
Harris began her journalism career as a producer at KXII-TV in Sherman, Texas, before moving to KENS-TV in San Antonio, where she produced the station's 10 p.m. newscast.
Throughout her career, Harris has earned 30 regional Emmy Awards for individual and newsroom achievements, four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, a national Edward R. Murrow Award and several Associated Press awards.
A native of rural Texas, Harris earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Oklahoma Christian University.
