Well-Known SF Burlesque Performer Killed In Party Bus Crash

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) -- Authorities say a well-known burlesque performer was killed and her husband critically injured when their car was hit head-on by a party bus on a highway south of San Francisco. Nine other people were injured.

California Highway Patrol Officer Art Montiel says 36-year-old Sarah Klein of San Mateo died in the crash early Sunday.

Her husband, 43-year-old Raul Padilla, was driving the Honda that appeared to have slammed into a center divider on U.S. 101 before coming to a stop facing oncoming traffic.

The CHP says Padilla had been wearing his seatbelt, but Klein had not. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

Klein was beloved in San Francisco's burlesque scene for her comedic, racy performances as "Sparkly Devil."

Montiel says the couple had consumed alcohol before the crash, but toxicology tests would have to be conducted to determine if Padilla was OK to drive.
