Tumblr #PostItForward Campaign Encourages Users To Open Up Without Fear Of Bullying

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Tumblr is officially a bully-free zone.

The blogging website has just launched PostItForward, a campaign that aims to create a safe place for users to discuss their sexuality, their mental health and their self-esteem, without fear of getting bullied or ostracized.

Tumblr hosts nearly half a billion independent weblogs. Users can sign up and create their own blog, or simply follow the blogs of others and post comments, share and like. #PostItForward functions the same way.

Vice-President Joe Biden, Jordin Sparks, Wendy Williams, Elizabeth Banks First Lady of NYC Chirlane McCray and others created videos to "inspire the community and jump-start the conversation."

Vice-President Joe Biden posted this message:

Like Biden, users with a message that might help someone in need can write posts, create videos, or take selfies using Tumblr's specially created Post It Forward GIF to send it.

According to Tumblr:

"The more people we get talking, the more support we'll all be able to find in each other. PostItForward is where a conversation turns into a community. We're all in this together. The story of your life can change someone else's. Post It Forward."

No subject is off limits. The site aims to address tough topics like self-harm and sexual assault, "and shine a light on the ways online connection and community can provide support."

Tumblr's Post It Forward blog includes a resource page with PSAs, words of encouragement and links and numbers to crisis hotlines.

One message reads,'If you're hurting today, take a minute to remind yourself that "Love is louder than this pain."'
