Style Files: Lady Gaga Splurges On 24-Karat Gold Wheelchair
Say goodbye to Emma! Lady Gaga is now riding around town in style thanks to her one of a kind 24-Karat gold wheelchair. Her golden chariot, which she is using after having hip surgery last month, was custommade by Ken Borochov, a New York based stylist who has worked with the likes of Kanye West, Cher Lloydand Nicki Minaj. Borochov managed to put the piece together in a week, telling MTV, "I certainly wasn't expecting that phone call and have never done a wheelchair but am always up for a challenge and was thrilled to create what I affectionately dubbed the Chariot, a chair fit only for a queen." Not only the frame of Mother Monster's new throne is 24-karat gold plated, but the wheels and hardware are too. The chair features a black leather seat that Borochov said was inspired by "classic motorcycle jackets." And just incase Gaga needs to take a little nap, the seat reclines all the way back so she can lay down. In a photo snapped by her friend, photographer Terry Richardson, a much-blonder Gaga looks post-surgery chic in her new wheels wearing a Mathieu Mirano jacket and a pale pink dress that could almost pass for a very fancy hospital gown.
This is not the first time Gaga has worked with Borochov. Back in October while launching her perfume, Fame, she wore his gold "claw," a set of bracelets and rings from his accessory line MORDEKAI.
Gaga has also rocked a wheelchair before in her 2009 video for "Paparazzi." Back then she opted for a much chunkier chair that features a bit of bling on the wheels. While we definitely prefer her new ride, if she wants to recycle that silver plated C-3PO inspired outfit from the clip, we're all for it.
