OAKLAND (CBS SF) - A 30-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday night in East Oakland, a police spokeswoman said Thursday.

Officers responding to reports of gunshots in the 600 block of El Paseo Drive at 11:40 p.m. found Germaine Latchison, of Oakland, suffering from a gunshot wound, Officer Holly Joshi said.

Police had been told of a man possibly shot and down on the sidewalk.

Paramedics responded soon after the officers and tried to revive Latchison, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Joshi said.

No suspects had been identified as of Thursday morning, and the motive is unknown, she said.
