Update: Arrest made in July 4 deadly stabbing in East Palo Alto

EAST PALO ALTO (CBS SF/BCN) – Police in East Palo Alto announced an arrest Tuesday after a man was stabbed on the 4th of July.

Officers responded to report of a stabbing victim in the 400 block of East O'Keefe Street around 11:35 p.m. Monday night. Upon arrival, officers found the victim and applied first aid before paramedics arrived, but the stabbing victim died at the scene.

The victim was identified as Abner Oswaldo Najeraxol, a 33-year-old East Palo Alto resident.

Several hours later, police announced a suspect has been arrested. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Wilmer Vasquez Amador, also of East Palo Alto, was taken into custody on suspicion of homicide.

Police said Tuesday that they are withholding the motive in the stabbing as the investigation is still ongoing.
