Whale Or Smartphone? It's Amazing What Some People Miss While Staring At Their Phone

It's easy to get absorbed into our phones.  Sometimes, we ignore the entire world around us because of what's happening on a 4-inch screen (5.5 for you iPhoners).

This photo may be the best reminder yet that there's a whole REAL world around you full of amazing things:  your kids, your wife, nature, sunsets, and you know, a 40-ton humpback whale surfacing about 2 feet from your sailboat off Redondo Beach in Southern California.

Instagram user esmith_images called it, "A sign of the times."

He posted, "Hey dude! Stop texting. There's an enormous humpback whale two feet from your boat! Shot this a couple weeks ago a mile from Redondo."
