Garbage Strike May Delay Pickup in San Mateo Co.
It may not be until Friday that some San Mateo County residents and businesses get their trash picked up because of a labor dispute that's got hundreds of workers walking off the job.
The dispute started in Half Moon Bay at the Ox Mountain Landfill, where 12 workers are holding a two day strike over what they say are slow contract negotiations. They also set up a picket line at San Carlos' large garbage transfer station which is used by all of San Mateo County. It's at this location that 300 truck drivers, mechanics and shop workers are honoring that line, and not working.

Lucky says he won't cross the picket line for the 700 to 800 homes he stops at each day.
"Lets face it, food waste when it gets old, with this heat, it can become pretty raunchy," said Lucky.
Allied Waste Services says it was ready for the Ox Mountain stoppage, but not the San Carlos one.
"We're going to do the best that we can with the workers that we have to keep service as normal as possible, but we suspect there will be some delay in residential pickups," said Peg Mulloy with AWS.
The drivers say they'll be back out on their routes on Friday.
