Couple Accused Of Leaving 2-Year-Old Son Home Alone To Play Pokémon Go

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (CBS/AP) -- An Arizona couple are accused of leaving their 2-year-old son alone to go play "Pokémon Go" on their smartphones.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says 27-year-old Brent Daley and 25-year-old Brianna Daley were arrested after a neighbor found the barefoot boy crying outside the couple's home in a southeastern Phoenix suburb Thursday night.

The office said Monday that the couple initially told deputies they went to buy gas but then said they'd gone in search of virtual Pokemon creatures for about 90 minutes.

They're accused of child neglect and child endangerment. The boy was turned over to the state's child-protection agency.

It's not known if the Daleys have attorneys who could comment on the allegations. There's no phone listing for their names, and they didn't immediately respond to Facebook messages.

the Pokémon Go app was developed by San Francisco-based Niantic Labs in partnership with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. Since its release, law enforcement has issued safety warnings after hundreds on incidents involving users who become entranced with the game wander and onto private property, or walk into obstacles and get hurt.
