4 Arrested After Santa Cruz Teen Robbed
SANTA CRUZ (BCN) -- Four suspects were arrested for robbing a teen on the streets of Santa Cruz Thursday night, according to police.
The victim, a 17-year-old boy, was walking on Buena Vista Avenue near East Cliff Drive at 8:32 p.m. when he was approached and surrounded by four males, police said.
The suspects threatened the victim and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspects grabbed the money from his hand. The suspects fled on foot.
Officers responded to the scene with a K-9 unit and canvassed the area. An officer spotted the suspects and they were taken into custody near Windham Street and Seabright Avenue.
The suspects were identified as Watsonville residents Marcos Delatorre, 18, and Roberto Meza, 20, a 16-year-old Watsonville boy and a 17-year-old Santa Cruz boy. Delatorre, Meza and the Watsonville boy are from and have gang ties with Poor Side Watsonville, a known Sureno gang. The boy from Santa Cruz has ties with Beach Flats Surenos.
All four suspects were arrested for robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and participating in a known street gang.
Delatorre and Meza were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail and the two boys were booked into Juvenile Hall.
The victim's property was fully recovered.
Police are investigating to see if these suspects are linked to any similar robberies that have occurred in the city and county.
