In fact, after winning the Super Bowl for the first time in 1981, the 49ers slipped well back under .500 in the strike-shortened 1982 regular season and missed the playoffs. Thus, the following season was a big one for the San Francisco organization: Would the 49ers drift back into obscurity or would the team remain relevant in the NFC power hierarchy? One of the craziest games of 1983 was a road game in Atlanta against the Falcons, the 1980 and 1982 NFC West Division champions. Here's what happened.
