Yuba City Police: Nobody Is Hunting Clowns As Nationwide Hoax Spreads

YUBA CITY (CBS13) — Police in one city are passing along a common refrain: Despite widespread posts claiming to be real, there have been no creepy clown sightings in Yuba City.

The threats follow a nationwide series of clown sightings and hoaxes, preying on people's natural fear of clowns like the ones seen in Stephen King's "It."

In addition to there being no clown sightings, police have also said they aren't aware of community groups banding together to hunt down clowns.

Until recently, the trend had been contained to states east of the Mississippi, but now police are fielding concerns throughout the region. A post claiming to be a hit list for a killer clown contained many local schools.
