Wet Weather Continues To Pound Sacramento Region As Rivers Rise
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The blustery, wet weather continues to pound the Sacramento region, and the rain will continue through the weekend.
Most of the Sacramento Valley experienced heavy rain spells throughout the day -- National Weather Service forecasters say they are expecting just over an inch of rain for the area through Monday.
Freeways around the region were backed up with traffic, as rural areas experienced some flooding.
Rainfall totals have swelled Sacramento River water levels enough to shut Discovery Park down. Tower Bridge operators have also begun to raise the bridge to allow boats to pass through.
Scott Bravo coaches a baseball team in Antelope, and says the rain has forced him to postpone baseball practices and games for his players.
"We've had one scrimmage and one game and right now we are down four games, three games next week … with the weather and the fields, it's not gonna happen."
Drivers are being cautioned to avoid standing water on the roadways, as a flood watch is in effect for the Sacramento region through Monday.
