Two House Fires Break Out In Stockton
STOCKTON (CBS13) -- A Victorian house in Stockton was gutted on Thursday afternoon after a mattress ignited, and another home in Stockton caught fire shortly thereafter.
The first fire at 1211 E. Washington broke around 2 p.m. on the first floor and spread to the second floor and attic.
A young couple and their toddler had just left the home before it caught on fire and were called back with reports that it was burning.
"Our stuff, our TV, everything," the woman cried on the phone as she watched the house burn.
There also was a downed live power line resting on the house next door, CBS13's Andrea Menniti reports, who was at the scene. A utility crew was at the location.
About two hours later, a single-story home at 4542 Ebbet Place caught fire and a 17-year-old boy suffered some minor burns.
The homeowner told Menniti that she had been cooking some rice and left the rice cooker going while she went out to run some errands, and when she came home the house was on fire.
The exact cause of the blaze is under investigation.
