Two Men Shot In Modesto; Suspect Flees

MODESTO (CBS13) - Two adult men were hospitalized with life-threatening gunshot wounds after being shot in northwest Modesto on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Police responded at about 4:30 p.m. to multiple calls of the shooting in the 2100 block of Palisades Avenue and found one man on the ground in front of a home. He was taken to a local hospital

While police were at the hospital with the first victim, a second victim came in after being transported by a private vehicle. Both victims went into surgery with critical injuries, police said.

Witnesses told police the shooting followed a verbal altercation on the roadway involving several men that turned physical. At one point, the suspect pulled out a gun and started firing. The suspect is described as white or Hispanic, in his late teens or early 20s, and was wearing dark clothing. He reportedly ran away from the crime scene.
