Teen's Death Is Stockton's 47th Homicide Of 2016
STOCKTON (CBS13) — Stockton Police are investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old boy dead on Tuesday.
The shooting at West Oak Street is Stockton's 47th homicide of the year, putting the city two shy of last year's total.
A man identifying himself as the godfather of the victim who was shot to death in a parking lot pointed to a bullet hole in a dumpster, showing the sheer force of the gun that was used to kill the teen.
Friends who didn't want to be identified say they loved him, and said he had been shot a few years ago.
Stockton police detectives released a picture of a silver SUV they believe is tied to the case. Detectives are also looking for four men seen on surveillance video near the victim.
Stockton's homicide count is well down from 2012 when it reached 71.
