Search On For Man Who Sexually Assaulted Woman In South Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Police are looking for a man who they believe sexually assaulted a woman in south Sacramento on Mack Road.

"These are the kind of calls that hit home and we really want to catch the bad guy in this," said Officer Traci Trapani with the Sacramento Police Department.

Just after midnight on Saturday morning, Sacramento police got a call about a robbery. It happened at an apartment complex in the 4900 block of Mack Road. The victim told police that her attacker came up behind her with a knife and then sexually assaulted her.

"I've been here for two years and I've never had any problems," said Brooke Phillips, who lives nearby.

For the mother of two, news about a sexual assault in her neighborhood was alarming.

"I'm really nervous because I have kids obviously and my kids play outside a lot," Phillips said. "I don't want anybody to get hurt."

The victim told Sacramento police that he took her cell phone and ran.

"These are all scary circumstances, especially when these suspects are armed with weapons," Officer Trapani said.

The victim described the suspect as a black man, in his 20's, 5'8"-5'9" with a skinny build. She told police he was wearing a black baseball hat with red stripes, a black t-shirt, a black peacoat and black pants.

"If we can get the word out there and this composite sketch, somebody out there hopefully knows this guy and can call us," Officer Trapani said.

Meanwhile, the neighbors in south Sacramento headed home uneasy on Saturday knowing the suspect was still out there.

"Makes me want to keep my kids in more," Phillips said. "Not outside and playing."
