Sacramento Sheriff's Deputy Injured In Pursuit; Suspect In Custody

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy was injured during a pursuit, and police are searching for the suspect who fled on foot.

The incident near Broadway and Alhambra Boulevard was the end of a pursuit from Highway 99. What initiated the pursuit is unknown at this time. There is no description of the suspect, but K-9 units are on the lookout for him. He's wanted for felony assault on an officer and gun charges.

The deputy was injured in a collision at some point during the pursuit. The deputy was transported from the scene.

Sheriff's helicopters in the area are urging residents to stay indoors while the search continues.

The California Highway Patrol is joining in the search for a gun the suspect is believed to have discarded.
