Sacramento Crowds Protest St. Louis County Grand Jury Decision In Ferguson Case

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Protesters took to the streets in Sacramento after a St. Louis County grand jury opted not to indict a white police officer in the death of an unarmed black teenager.

Dozens of demonstrators left the corner and lined up across Florin Road, blocking traffic for minutes at a time. Some drivers were so angered they got out of their cars to confront the crowd.

The anger and outrage reached a boiling point over the decision not to indict officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown.

"This is a news story for y'all; this is our life," said Berry Accius, founder of Voice of the Youth. "Black kids are getting killed. Two black males dead. And then they don't indict this guy? Are you kidding me?"

Protesters were on the move, marching east on Florin Road, blocking the on-ramp to Highway 99. At that point, police swarmed in, wearing riot gear. They blocked off traffic, formed a line and demanded the angry crowd move out of the street.

After multiple warnings of arrests, protesters gradually moved out of the intersection and onto the street corner where it all began.
