1 hurt in Rio Linda shooting; deputies investigating scene

One person has been taken to the hospital after a shooting in Rio Linda on Thursday morning, deputies say.

Deputies with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene near 2nd Street and Collins Lane just before 9:30 a.m. and found a person had been shot in the leg.

That person was taken to the hospital. Deputies say the person is in stable condition. 

Exactly what led up to the shooting remains under investigation by deputies, but investigators believe the shooting took place around 10 minutes before it was reported. The suspect managed to flee the area, deputies say, and is still being sought. 

Investigators say the victim and suspect knew each other. 

A significant law enforcement presence remains at the scene, but the sheriff's office says no roads are closed at this time.
