Rain, Snow In Forecast For NorCal Next Week

- Complete Forecast

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- The spring-like weather has been nice, but Northern California will receive far more typical winter conditions this coming week.

The National Weather Service says rain, snow and high winds are expected across the interior of Northern California starting Monday afternoon.

At least two inches of rain could fall in parts of the interior valleys and 4 to 6 feet could accumulate above 7,000 feet in the Sierra. Wind gusts could top 30 MPH on the valley floor and more than 50 MPH in the mountains through Wednesday.

Drivers without snow tires and four wheel drive who are planning on traveling over the Sierra should carry chains at all times, and high profile vehicles like trucks and trailers should exercise caution in high winds.

Snow levels are expected to start at 4,500 to 5,500 feet, but could dip into the foothills by Thursday morning.

Precipitation is expected to last at least until Friday.
