Quiet in Oakland So Far After Tuesday Night Violence
OAKLAND (CBS13) -- Is it the calm before another storm or did Occupy Oakland protesters get the message after Tuesday night's clash with police?
The scene has been quiet all day today -- a small gathering of rather quiet protesters holding up signs while the police stand behind the barricades blocking City Hall.
It's a far different scene from Tuesday when protesters began clashing with the police in the early evening.
The Oakland Police Department ordered the crowd to disperse they then released tear gas and shot bean bags at the occupiers, and CBS13's Ben Sosenko was given evidence of rubber bullets.
Tonight, of course, there is a lot of frustration after what happened, and it seems like these protesters will be back here later tonight.
"I think they're going to come back even stronger, and then the word is, I'm hearing around here is that there will be twice as many people tonight," Oakland resident Kristin Miller Nicholas.
CBS13 has been told that there will be a general assembly of the occupiers starting here tonight at 6.
How things go from there, only time will tell.
