Police Say Baby Was On Board As Mom Drove Getaway Car For Stabbing Suspect

LODI (CBS13) - A 19-year-old is recovering in the hospital after being stabbed early Tuesday morning in Lodi.

Police were called to an apartment complex at 2400 Eilers Lane for reports of a stabbing. When they arrived they found a 19-year-old man who had a severe cut to his throat and two stab wounds in the back.

Witnesses were able to give police a description of the suspect vehicle. Other officers en route to the stabbing recognized the suspect vehicle speeding away from the stabbing scene and chased after it.

The chase ended when the suspect vehicle drove into a dead end street.

Police arrested the driver, Samantha Steman. She is charged with DUI, evading police, and child endangerment. The child endangerment charge is because Steman's one-year-old son was in the car. He is now in protective custody.

They also arrested Steman's passenger, stabbing suspect, Buck Marchand. Marchand was just released from prison five days ago and is currently on parole for Assault with a deadly weapon. He's been charged with attempted murder and parole violation.
