Parents Of Stabbed Good Samaritan Meet Son's Rescuers

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Two good Samaritans came to the aide of another good Samaritan after he stepped in to stop an assault and ended up stabbed.

Parents Tina and John sat, waiting to meet two special men.

"I've thought of them all this week, everyday," said Tina.

Two strangers came to her son's aide on Monday when 32-year-old Jonathan Robinson witnessed an attack on some teens in north Natomas. He tried to step-in, but instead was brutally stabbed seven times.

Those two men would chase the alleged attackers off and helped give Robinson first aid. Their help was recorded on a voicemail after Robinson tried to call his father and dropped his phone.

Friday, outside UC Davis, Robinson's parents meet the two men who helped save their son, Bryan Jones and Dave Cain.

"You realize you saved his life. Thank you so much," said Tina to the men.

"If you hadn't gone towards them, they would have finished him off," said Chris.

Jones and Cain say it was instinct.

"They saw us and just got up and walked off, didn't run," said Jones.

"When we got there, I could see John needed our help more than anything," said Cain.

They applied pressure to his wounds with other neighbors, and called 911.

"He kept yelling at me, telling me he couldn't breathe, and I told him if you're yelling at me you're breathing," said Cain.

Robinson would make it. However, he is still in critical condition in a medically-induced coma, unable to breathe on his own.

It's an uphill battle his parents are sure wouldn't even be possible without the two men.

"God put them there to help my son," said Chris.

"The true hero is the one fighting for his life right now," said Jones.

Two arrests have been made in the stabbing.

The family has established a fund to pay for the medical bills at The Rock of Roseville church.
