Oil Seen When Barge Grounded In San Francisco Bay
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The Coast Guard is investigating whether a barge that ran aground along the San Francisco waterfront is leaking diesel fuel into the water.
Lt. j.g. Laura Roberts says the barge went too close to shore Tuesday morning. A light sheen appeared on the water, and Roberts says crews have contained the spill with boom.
Pollution investigators are on scene and are looking into whether any of the vessel's diesel or hydraulic fuel is leaking into the water.
Roberts says she is unsure if the sheen is residual fuel or leaking from the engine room, which is flooded.
There were no injuries reported.
