Northbound Sunrise Boulevard Closed After Vehicle Destroys Power Pole

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) - Northbound Sunrise Boulevard was closed south of Highway 50 in Rancho Cordova on Monday morning.

Around 12:30 a.m., a woman was driving northbound on Sunrise Boulevard south of Highway 50 when she reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, drifted from the road and slammed into a power pole, according to a statement from a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesperson.

Northbound Sunrise Boulevard was closed from Sunrise Gold Circle to Trade Center Drive.

Power was knocked out to about 1,500 customers.

The condition of the woman is unknown. It's also unknown when the road will reopen to traffic.
