Nearly 2,000-Pound Pumpkin Wins Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off
ELK GROVE (CBS13) — A Napa man won the top prize at the Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival Weigh-Off on Saturday.
Leonardo Urena's pumpkin weighed in at 1,938 pounds — 1 pound over his previous personal best.
Over 50 pumpkins weighed in from growers all over the state.
Urena is a renowned pumpkin grower in the area having competed for the past 20 years and winning the 2005 and 2011 weigh-offs.
He took home $7,000 for his effort at the Elk Grove Park festival.
