Mourners Pay Final Respects To Murdered Retired Stockton Officer
LODI (CBS13) – Family, friends and colleagues came to pay their final respects to retired Stockton officer Laurits "Pepe" Petersen.
Hundreds packed Bear Creek Church in Lodi on Saturday for the funeral service.
Petersen served thirty years on the Stockton force before retiring in 1998. He was fatally stabbed in Stockton on Feb. 23 in an attack on Tam O Shanter Drive.
"The symbolism of today is about the celebration of my dad's life," Petersen's son Dennis said. "We can sit here, we can mourn and cry for days, but it's not going to do us any good."
The suspect Rafael Watts is in custody
Police are still investigating the motive.
