Child Found Wandering Street, Mother Arrested
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Reports of a 5-year-old wandering around on the street led to the arrest of a Sacramento woman on Wednesday.
Officers responded to reports of the child walking alone in the 5700 block of 47th Avenue. The responding officers located the child, but initially were not unable to find his home.
With the help of neighbors in the area, officers eventually located the boy's residence and contacted his mother, Angel Hyatt, 23.
There were two additional children, ages 18 months and 2 years, in Hyatt's care, police said. Because of the conditions of the home and the fact that the 5-year-old was wandering alone on the streets, all three children were taken into protective custody and Hyatt was arrested for felony child endangerment.
Police tell CBS13's Derek Shore that dirty diapers were scattered throughout the home, which had a disgusting foul smell and was generally filthy.
Hyatt was booked into the Sacramento County jail and released.
