Bank Robbery Suspect May Be Linked To Other Robberies In Northern California
ROSEVILLE (CBS13) - Roseville police have arrested a man accused of robbing a bank at the beginning of December 2015.
On December 3, a tall, heavyset man wearing a bad fake beard reportedly walked into the Umpqa Bank on Douglas Boulevard, demanded money, and left, according to Roseville Police Department spokesperson Dee Dee Gunther.
Officers didn't have much to go on. No one saw the car or recognized the suspect from video footage. After police interviewed witnesses and searched the area for any indication of the suspect, crime scene investigators gathered forensic evidence, which they sent to the California Department of Justice's crime lab.
After analyzing the evidence, lab technicians sent their findings to Roseville police detectives who investigated further. On Tuesday, detectives arrested 39-year-old David James Lira of Roseville on a robbery charge.
Detectives say when they arrested Lira, they discovered more evidence allegedly linking him to other bank robberies in Northern California.
