Antelope Teen Injured During CHP-Involved Vehicle Chase

ANTELOPE (CBS13) - A 13-year-old boy is in the hospital with major injuries after he was hit by a car that had been chased a CHP officer.

The chase began Tuesday night in Antelope when a CHP officer was attempting to get the driver to pull over. But instead of complying with the officer's request, the driver took off. The officer followed the car, but eventually lost track of it, according to a CHP statement.

A short time later, the officer later learned the vehicle had crashed in a residential neighborhood, hitting a teenage male bystander and damaging several parked vehicles in the process.

The teen was reportedly getting out of his mother's car when he was hit. He suffered broken bones in both legs and other injuries to his lower extremities and was taken to San Juan Mercy Medical Center in Citrus Heights.

Neighbors heard the commotion, came outside and detained the suspects until officers arrived.
