Statewide Mentored Youth Fishing Day Encourages Young Anglers

HARRISBURG (KDKA) -- Kids can try to reel in a trophy catch today.

The state's Mentored Youth Fishing Day began at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Anglers 15 and younger will need a Voluntary Fishing License or a free permit, and they must be with a licensed adult.

Since 2020's Mentored Youth Fishing Day was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the state will still honor Voluntary Youth Fishing Licenses purchased last year.

The opening day of trout season for adults is next Saturday.
