WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) - Police and firefighters responded to a reported fire at a salon Monday morning.

Emergency responders were called to A Touch Of Heaven Hair Boutique on Texas Avenue in West Mifflin shortly before 5 a.m.

Witnesses say that they saw a man dressed in black pouring gasoline on the building. Shortly after, witnesses say they saw the building catch fire.

The man allegedly fled the scene in a car.

A witness at the scene of the fire explained what she saw to KDKA's Amy Wadas.

"I was like oh my God why is he doing this right now. I was scared. I thought there were people in there," said witness Kayla Bongiorno.

Bongiorno said when she and her friends spotted a man pouring gasoline around A Touch of Heaven Hair Boutique in West Mifflin, she called 911 right away.

"He turned around and saw us. He took off running. He hesitated to get in his car and he got in his car and took off over the hill and sure enough, we found his matchbox right up there," said Bongiorno.

Salon owner Raneshia Hall is at a loss for words.

Matches were spotted on the ground around the business.

"I have no enemies whatsoever. None. I donate services. I give and give and give," said Salon Owner Raneshia Hall.

When firefighters got to the scene on Texas Avenue, one part of the building was smoldering. They were able to put it out right away. While the damage isn't significant, Hall said she's still deeply disturbed.

"I just couldn't believe it. Heartbroken. Devastated. Who would do something like this? Who would be so hateful to do something like this," said Hall.

"It's unnecessary. It's New Year's Eve. She works hard. She has three beautiful girls she gets up and comes to work for," said Salon Owner's sister Raven White.

Hall has a message to the person that did this.

"God bless you. You think you got away with something but God knows. Even if they never find out who done it God knows," said Hall.

The fire marshal and West Mifflin Police are investigating.

Above the hair salon are apartments where police say no one was home. No one was injured during the fire.
