PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- One of the best high school football rivalries in all of Western Pennsylvania is taking center stage tonight in the Steel City High School Football Showcase game of the week!
It's the final week of the regular season for teams in the WPIAL and tonight it's a battle between some of the best of Beaver County as Aliquippa takes on neighboring Central Valley!
The undefeated Quips are the reigning WPIAL 4A champions and looking to defeat their Parkway Conference Rivals as both teams are preparing for the postseason.
The Beaver County rivalry pits two historically great programs against one another.
Aliquippa has played in 15 consecutive WPIAL championship games and were runners up in last year's state championship game and winners of the 4A Championship in 2021. Central Valley won back-to-back 3A state titles in 2020 and 2021, losing to Aliquippa in the WPIAL 4A title game one year ago.
This season, Aliquippa hasn't been tested much in their nine wins, with the only close scare coming last month in a 29-22 win over West Allegheny.
Central Valley has suffered two losses this year, falling early in the season to undefeated Avonworth and dropping a 21-20 nailbiter against Montour.
