Victims, Shooter in Monessen Murder-Suicide Identified

The Westmoreland County Corner has identiofied the three people killed in Monessen overnight as Maedee VonFischer, 39; Nicholas Mascetta, 44; and Valdimir VonFischer, 42; all of Monessen.

Police are still trying to piece together what led to the shooting that left three people dead outside an apartment complex for senior citizens.

Police say the shooting happened around 9 p.m. Sunday in a pavilion outside Westgate Manor, a high-rise senior citizen complex in Monessen, about 20 miles south of Pittsburgh.

Witnesses say the gunman walked up to a man in a wheelchair and a woman sitting next to him and shot them both before turning the gun on himself.

Authorities say there were 25 to 30 other people around who witnessed the shooting and that the man fired at least 11 rounds.
