Vacant House Destroyed In Suspicious McKeesport Fire
MCKEESPORT (KDKA) -- A suspicious fire destroyed a vacant house on Lime Street in McKeesport.
It's the fourth suspicious fire in McKeesport. Two houses on East Street and a house on Forest Street were also targeted.
The fire marshal is investigating cause of Tuesday's fire.
McKeesport police say a thunderstorm was in the area at the time of the fire and that it's possible lightning could have started the fire.
However, vacant house fires are treated as suspicious until a case is determined by the fire marshal.
Firefighters had trouble putting out the fire. One of the problems was logistics. The house sits on a hillside accessible only by steep city steps.
There were no injuries and the home was vacant for 20 years.
Randy Langler, a neighbor, said he thinks someone is responsible for the fire.
"It seems quite suspicious that a bunch of abandoned houses [are] going to go up in flames out of nowhere," he said.
