Tractor Trailer Slams Into Armstrong Co. House

PLUMCREEK TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A tractor trailer apparently veered off Route 422 in Armstrong County and plowed through a home.

It happened in Plumcreek Township -- southeast of Kittanning.

Truck kept going and ended up in a field several yards from the home just after 12:30 p.m. The couple who lives there left their home about a half hour earlier.

The tractor trailer slammed directly into the couple's master bedroom.

"This is my son and daughter-in-law's bedroom," Debbie Pfrogner, of Kittanning, said. "If this was at night, they'd be crushed."

The truck drive told people at the scene he was adjusting his mirrors, lost control of his rig and couldn't stop until he went through a field into some trees.

"But he hopped out of his truck - he had a bump on his head but not much else and he ran up to make sure no one was hurt," Pfrogner said. "He felt very remorseful - you could tell he felt bad."

The couple that lives in the house, Alex and Becky Pfrogner, are thankful to be alive and ready to rebuild.

"I guess we just talk to whoever we need to talk to and see what we can do about getting this fixed as soon as possible," Becky Pfrogner said.
